iotracker - Infrared Optical Tracking System
![]() | Vienna University of Technology |
iotracker is a low cost infrared optical tracking system that has been developed by the Interactive Media Systems Group of the Vienna University of Technology: www.iotracker.com
Target Group
research labs, engineering-centres, VR-centres and labs, motion-capture studios
Application
iotracker uses up to 8 small infrared cameras with integrated infrared emitters. Both the camera lenses and the emitters are wide angled (~90 degrees), which allows to cover a maximum tracking volume even in small rooms. This makes iotracker highly suitable for the use in CAVE like and powerwall settings. Up to 12 targets can be tracked at 60 Hz with 6 DOF (degrees of freedom), submillimeter accuracy and low latency.
Calibration procedure is very easy, calibrating the whole setup takes only a few minutes. The high precision, large tracking volume and the easy and flexible setup of the system makes it perfectly usable for many application areas like VR/AR research, 3D user interfaces, engineering, architectural walk through and even motion capturing.
